Longhorn Ranch – Ellis County, Texas

This 8,100 square foot estate home was constructed on a 200 acre working Texas Longhorn Cattle Ranch, 10 miles east of Ennis, TX.

The entry to the home is framed by a large Porte Cochere.  A covered porch runs the entire length of the front of the home.  At the rear of the home, overlooking a treed area of the ranch, is a covered patio that also runs the entire length of the rear of the home.

The main floor public spaces are intended to provide for frequent entertaining of groups of various sizes, while privacy in the master suite is achieved by physically separating it from the main floor public spaces.  The kitchen shares the same vaulted space as the great room and the dining room.  The kitchen is culinary dream.  It will have a large double oven Wolf duel fuel range covered with a matching Wolf vent hood, along with Wolf double ovens, two Wolf warming drawers, a 48” Sub Zero refrigerator, and two Bosch dishwashers,

The master suite is a secluded sanctuary for the owners.  The large bedroom has a sitting area with a large stone fireplace.  Large windows and French doors look out to the covered rear patio and beyond to the lush forest that surrounds the building site.  The master bath has a very large stone framed walk-in double shower with a rain head.  Across from the shower is a very large stone based soaking tub that also has windows that look out to the scenic ranch land.  The final touch to the master suite is the over 200 square feet of walk in closets.  One of these closets also serves as the “safe room” for the estate.  In case of severe weather or other events, the owners and guests can seek shelter in the concrete and steel surrounded structure.

The library is connected to the master suite by a barrel vaulted formal entry gallery.  It shares a large stone see-thru fireplace with the master bedroom.

The guest suites are known as the Bunk House.  The Bunk House is detached from the main house and is attached to the very large five car garage.  The Main House and the Bunk House/Garage are connected by a large covered breezeway.

The homes Texas Hill Country style of architecture blends harmoniously with the rolling ranch land‘s natural  landscape.  The exterior of the home will be constructed entirely of native Texas limestone, from a quarry southwest of Austin, Texas.  The roofing material will consist of a standing seam metal roof system.

Another of our current projects is a fire rebuild and major addition in Plano, Texas.  This is our 4th fire rebuild and redesign project for Catastrophe Constuction Services.

The fire was caused by a 1965 Corvette catching fire in the garage.  The couple was home at the time.  Both survied the fire without injury.

This is a picture taken from the street in front of the house.  Most of the roof was completely burned during the fire.

About 1/2 of the home will be rebuilt the way it was before the fire.  For the other half, we redesigned the kitchen, enlarged the family room and breakfast room, and completely redesigned and enlarged the master suite. Above the enlarged garage, we added a full size media room and a half bath.  We are adding a large covered summer kitchen and exterior living area that will wrap around the existing pool, which is having to be rebuilt.

This picture is looking over the pool and toward the existing master suite.

This is a picture taken from the alley looking toward the garage.

This is a picture inside the garage, right where the Corvette was sitting.  The owner had just finished driving it to Starbucks for his Saturday morning Latte.  He parked it and then !@#$.
